Am I eligible enough to read Law in college?

We Answered:

You must be able to read very fast and handle a lot stress. You must be someone who does not breakdown easily and cry like a baby when a more senior staff attorney hands you a heavy, huge pile of papers and tells you to not only sort through them carefully but make them error-free and sound spectacular by 12 noon tomorrow first thing. You must be willing and able to sit and read through long piles of legal gobble-dee-guk that all looks the same and be able to tolerate it well enough to just get the job done well, even if you want to bash you head in at times. You must get used to index finger callouses, sore heels, and hearing loud feet shuffle down the halls as the general partners in the firm scream at each other like they want to kill one another for being late and incomplete.

I'm not trying to scare you. I'm just trying to give you a dose of just how cool-headed you'll have to be and just how intense the legal profession really is. Trust me, the stuff on T.V. is like Disneyland compared to what the real legal world is: cut-throat and excruciatingly boring at times. But, if you can survive through the pain and flack and become live long enough to enjoy seeing your finished product change the lives of others and bring in the big dough, you just might make it into a career that will become all the more enjoyable and rewarding.

What are required for becoming a Navy Officer?

We Answered:

I would suggest you visit the first source link I posted below for the most updated information. It is a forum where you can register for free and contact people applying for, currently attending, and recent graduates of Navy OCS.
Even though that site's title is OCS at NAS Pensacola, OCS moved back to Newport Rhode Island in 2007.

I graduated from Navy OCS many years ago. So what I know is probably no longer applicable. However, I do know that Navy OCS now uses Marine Corps drill instructors.

I tried searching the internet for current Navy OCS prerequisites but had no luck. The best I could find is the second source link I posted below.

Regarding applying for OCS, you already meet the minimum educational requirement of having a BS degree.

Getting into intelligence and supply might be tough especially since your major is not directly related to those career fields. However, I can't speak about information warfare since that was not available when I served.

When I applied for OCS, I did it through my local Navy & Marine Corps Reserve Center using enlised recruiters.

I enjoyed my Naval service because I enjoyed sea duty. I also served as an officer in the Army. However, I preferred Navy life aboard a ship rather than living outdoors in the Army.

Not knowing how to swim should not affect your application process, but it will affect your performance at OCS. Take some basic Red Cross swimming classes now or be assigned to extra swimming instruction at OCS. You will be required to swim by the time you graduate from OCS.

Good luck.
