Any suggestions in doing case analysis in marketing? We Answered:
there are some guidelines to be noted in order to solve the case studies. these guidelines will help you a lot while solving it whether during the exam or for an assignment.1. first of all read the questions given at the end of the case studies (if given). this will help you have the overview of the case study and the problems in it.
2. secondly read the first and the last paragraph first. if you want to identify the problems only, this is the best place where you can find the most of it. after reading these two paragraphs you will have a broader overview or the context of the case study.
3. finally skim the case study instead of reading it thoroughly. because the minute details are mostly of very little use or no use at all (sometimes details are given to confuse the students). also it will help you save a lot of time and effort.
4. highlight all the important lines, facts and figures. always keep a highlighter in your hand while solving a case study. because if you need to refer to the case study for the second time, you only have to go through the highlights.
all of these guidelines are equally important and they really do work for me. my professor of advertising and event management told me about solving the case studies. he gave me as much as 30 case studies to solve during the whole semester.
i hope it helps. good luck.

What does P&L mean (as in a P&L center) when talking about marketing a service? We Answered:
P&L is always Profit and Loss. A cost center isn't required to make a profit, it just adds to the cost of running the business. The management is graded on factors such as productivity or how well they meet production and quality goals rather than on P&L. Changing to a profit center (the preferred term) works only if the management has control over both output and input. Example: in making widgets, the manufacturing group has no control over sales. They may be able to control how much they pay for materials, labor costs, inventory, inventory holding costs, but they can't actually sell them. This makes them better as a Cost Center. On the other hand, an individual store is a profit center. They control sales and enough of the costs to impact P&L.Jay Said:
