It sounds to me as if your assignment means picking a person and writing about how that individual became a leader. One way to satisfy the requirement is to pick a local legislator or community leader and interview her or him.

If you don't have access to the mayor of your city (or the equivalent), look to one of the community-service clubs. Organizations like Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, and Soroptimist are international and have chapters in every city around the world. The members of these clubs are usually community leaders at some level.

Contact one of the clubs (your Chamber of Commerce will have contact information) and schedule an appointment to interview the current president. He or she will be your "case study." After you've written your observations and submitted them to your instructor, you will have completed the assignment and learned some valuable information that will help you later in life.

By the way, you'll also have the beginnings of an important social network that will also be extremely beneficial.

Note - you really want to look at the definitions of these terms as your prof has given them to you. My understanding may be different.

1) Neither - this is mostly autocratic leadership
2) Possibly transactional - but clearly consultative
3) The approach taken by SSS is generally acceptable and realistic the NCF approach is unrealistic.
