A very interesting (and sad!) situation.

Normally I would tell friends what I thought and then support them in their own decision. But in this case it sounds like they are coming to you for support in their decision to abort. The whole idea of abortion is ugly to them, even though nearly all of us agree, internally at least, that abortion is sometimes the best thing.

So yes, I would tell them that God doesn't mean for them to ruin all their lives in order keep a child like this alive. It is not a person, just a 'blank', and it should have died long ago.

Anencephaly, BTW, is not common but not extremely uncommon. Anencehpalic babies don't usually live more than a few hours or days. But there is a 'silver lining' in that their tiny little organs can be transplanted and perhaps help someone else's baby to survive and have a life.

What a great speech and you have really researched your topic. I agree that it is quite aggressive. Right from the start it is in your face stating an opinion as a fact. As much as I agree with your statement, it is only your opinion. I would start off with "If I asked you what the saddest day in the history of America was, what would you say? Do you know what I think is the saddest day in the history of our land is? Well let me tell you. That day is the 22 January 1973. Why do I think that is the saddest day? Well it is because on that day our nations guardians of riotousness - the Supreme Court- legalised abortion.
For that was the day that they made their judgement in Rowe -v- Wade.

Now I know that many of you would disagree with me and some might even be appalled at my gaul but let me explain why I feel the way I do.
Then I would outline logical arguments about the bill of rights and the right to life. While understanding the views of others and giving credence to the rights of women to choose - who gives the right to an unborn child to choose.

Finish up by challenging their beliefs. Challenge the view that they alone have the right to life. "As President Kennedy said: "We do not all have the same talents but we should all have the same opportunity to develop those talents" what opportunity does an unborn have to develop his or her talents? To quote J R Lowell: "They are slaves that do not speak for the fallen and the weak, they are slaves that dare not be in the right with two or three." Hope this is of help. email me
