Interview Case Study Questions
Marion Said:
10 short questions if your studying to be a judge. please help (interview)? We Answered:
You can't go to college, specifically to be a judge. You have to go to college and get a bachelor's degree in something, preferably liberal arts or bisiness. It is a common misconception that pre-law is a major, because it usually isn't. It is a group of classes, but you have to major in something else. Choose anything that interests you, but it is a good idea to major in something that will help you get a job, incase law school does not work out. After your Bachelor degree, you apply for law school, or work for a while, then apply to law school. After working as a lawyer, and facing lots of stiff competition, then you have a chance of being a judge. On another note, the field of law is somewhat flooded. Believe it or not, it is actually rather hard to get a job as a lawyer. Many lawyers are saddled with 100k or more in student loans, yet are forced to work as paralegals for about 40k/yr. Law schools won't tell you this- they just want more students and more money.
Diane Said:
I need to interview a lwayer, but I dont know any. Is anyone interested in conducting the interview with me?We Answered:
1. I am a Criminal Defense Attorney. My Primary practice is as a "Bar Advocate", a private attorney who accepts Court Appointed criminal cases in the District Courts of Massachusetts on behalf of indigent individuals. In Massachusetts, the term "Public Defender" is applied to a state employee attorney representing the indigent, usually in Superior Court.2. No childhood experience, but I have been guided by my high school motto "I serve"
3. I find that this field allows me to "cause trouble" and help people.
4. I originally intended to have a Military career, but started doing Law and liked it. I entered the law at age 35.
5. I studied law at New England School of Law in Boston, MA. It is an independent law school (not affiliated with a University).
6. I have an undergrad degree in Political Science.
7. I start the day in my office at 8:00, assembling files to go to Court for 9:00 - I will frequently be there until 4:00 or later and then return to the office for an additional hour or more to interview clients and keep up with paperwork. On days I am not in court, I will frequently be out of the office investigating and interviewing witnesses. Nights are often devoted to research and writing.
8. A undergrad degree is required to enter law school (4 years of college) and law school itself is either three years (full time student) or four years (Part-time at night)
9. My first case was collecting money for a plumber for work he had done.
10. The most frustrating, grinding, pain-in-the-butt job you will ever love. The clients are both the most frustrating and the most interersting people you will ever meet.
11. I am paid $50.00 per hour for the work I do as a "Bar Advocate". Out of that I pay all the costs of running my office and what ever is left is taxed and I get what is left after the taxman. (I am a "solo practicioner" not in a firm.)
12. Hm mm, advice?? a) When someone tells you that you have a right to remain silent, pay attention and take that advice. b) never park by a fire hydrant ;-)

Job Interview question?We Answered:
Stick to your guns and maybe try rewording it. Say something like "I left so I could further my education and they were not able to work around my new schedule, so I left." Make sure you never say anything bad about your previous employer(s), which is something you probably already know :)She may be grilling you because she wants to see if you'll change your story. Don't fall for it. She probably grills everyone she interviews with. Hang in there! Good luck getting the job!
