Performance Management Case Study
Clarence Said:
please can you help correct my conclusion? I will give 10 points for best answer? We Answered:
Performing arts management personnel have made significant strides in the battle to win over audiences for live theatre. With the work of these managers, live theatre thrives as a relevant expression of culture in the UK in the twenty-first century. These points and others are illustrated in the case studies of both the Southwark Playhouse and the Almeida Theatre. There are many more challenges for theatre management to tackle includeing updating plays to reflect the changing definition of “culture” in the present age. Many skills are needed to attract a diverse audience to performances that reflect today’s values. Experimental theatre—a positive influence—has provided a platform for “trying something new” that will attract a diverse range of audience to the plays. However, factors such as the economy and technology have been identified as a great danger to theatres, specifically television and cinema. This may be due to the fact these media outlets are more realistic, accessible and cost effective compared to live theatre (which requires audience participation). Additionally, theatres also fail to recognize and provide for the younger generation and ethnic backgrounds, in particular the Asian communities. Another threat the theatres are ticket prices that have been driven up by the rising costs of theatre operation and maintenance. For these and other reasons, live theatre has not thrived or progressed to any extent in the twenty-first century. Moreover, the definition of ‘culture’ is not fixed; it is fluid and changes with time. What culture consists of can be an individual construct as well as a collective construct. On the other hand, theatres must develop their audience in order to exist, therefore it is fair to say that theatre is culturally relevant but needs further improvements in winning over an audience.

From a patriotic American (ME!)You got it right as usual, I have said this same thing all my working life, and it is hard to tell if this was supposed to be a funny, or just a very honest statement, so sad for for us working people. and gets even worse for us when all the "pol-cor" garbage gets thrown into the mix!
The company I work for is going through some of the same, but hopefully they'll get their heads out of each others @sses before it goes under!
I gonna go for a ride in my old mustang and listen to some good ol classic rock and be happy being a nobody!
