Writing A Case Study

June Said:

Who is good at research? Stuck with what to write, I started writing a case study?

We Answered:

I think you need to clarify this with your tutor. A case study would involve different sources of information to draw on not just a single report. I suspect you are being asked to write a report on a case study. In this case you need to look up a case study in the library or the Internet and read it thoroughly. You can write a report on the case study by pointing out its strengths and weaknesses, the validity or research methods and sources used in the case study, how it compares with other case studies in it's methodology and presentation.

A report on a case study would analyse not only the information in it but how the information was obtained and how it's been presented. A lot of thought has to go into this.

Has anyone completed year 1 of a law degree. How did you find it and any tips? writing case study on scenarios?

We Answered:

I have completed three years of law. When I first started, I found this site an excellent resource, not just for writing essays, but how to start thinking about law.

I am unsure if you are studying in the USA or UK. The above resource will be useful for either, but more specifically for US law students. In the UK the teaching approach varies a bit ( I am studying law in Australia). The Australian approach might be more closely related to how law is taught in the UK. Here are a few resources

what is the step by step procedure in making a written case study? What are the things i needed to know?

We Answered:

There are many different kinds of cse studies. The format depends on the type of case study. For example, the format of a case study for special education purposes is different from the format for business purposes. A marketing case study is a specific form of business case study. The previous poster gave a good description of one type of case study, mainly for business purposes.

I hav attached several links that discuss a variety of case study formats and give some tips. I hope they are hepful/

Can someone help me with writing a case study?

We Answered:

Under what subject?
Identify your subject, object and/or variables.
Determine what you are describing... describe the action of the variables... and then...engage in demonstrating the negative or positive aspect you wish to discuss; whether comparing or contrasting quantitive or qualititive data, preferably both etc.
Point out the faults/limits in your own argument to assist in setting limits to the study.
Analyse your theoretical approach's interpretation of specific examples that relate to your overall thesis, to interpret the subject and interpret for your reader according to this professional/personel context.
Then give a conclusion which represents all the points in your study that demonstrate you are right and any other opinion is wrong according to the theoretical approach you and your readings have taken.

Discuss It!
