Aims Community College

Mike Said:

Not wanting to go to a community college?

We Answered:

In-state Universities are always the cheaper colleges. With a 3.5+ gpa you will be able to get some scholarsips from these universities. Universities in-state tend to be around $5,000-10,000 tuition.

With the economy the way it is, getting a loan would be a poor investment unless it is a fixed rate.

Community colleges are a great option, as long as you make sure your credits will -transfer- to your chosen university.
Community colleges are cheap, easy way to get many general education required classes out of the way!

Willie Said:

If I transfer from community college and with a bad high school gpa could I still get into a good college?

We Answered:

Of course you can get into a good college as long as you apply as a transfer student with at least 60 transferable semester units. It is actually easier to get into a better college when you transfer because they understand that you have more responsibilities than when in high school. For example UCLA's average freshmen admitted students gpa is around 4.0 while transfer gpa is an average of 3.5. Though you do need to provide transcripts from high school to prove that you graduated it is not considered in the review process while being admitted.

I personally think transferring is a great choice and opportunity to start with a clean slate. Good Luck!! Oh and some schools offer priority admission for UCLA which could increase your chances of being admitted. They usually include honor courses and some include community service. You should look into it.

I am a high school student who got a B in a community college course...?

We Answered:

Go ahead and send in your transcripts and take a different course. A "B" in Calc is nothing to sneeze at.

How to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Business Communication, starting from Community College?

We Answered:

You can check into CC in CA.(see site below) I live in IL and our CC do not have dorms. You may have to find your own housing and in CA it is very high priced.
At CC you would take your general education classes. Those classes everyone has to take regardless of your major. Then apply and transfer over to a four year college.

Why CA? If you want hot, try Arizona, Texas, Florida. For the beach add on all east coast schools. Sorry just don't think CA is all that great. There are lots of different options- the US is huge.

Is it a bad decision to stay home and go to a community college than to a university?

We Answered:

I have heard from a LOT of ffolks that their kids have an easier time at college if they first go to a junior college then transfer to university. My friend's son was second in his graduating class, and his girlfriend was validictorian... she flunked out of Texas A&M after just one semester bc she couldn't take the pressure and keep up with the work. I say get some college life experience by getting ana apartment with friends near home, take classes at a local school, then try a 4 year university. But be sure that the classes you take will transfer to a 4 year university! A lot of beginner classes don't transfer, so ask before registering!

By the way... I am graduating from a junior college next month after 4 years. But I hae already been accepted to a 4 year university into a Masters program. I think that life would have been really hard if I had started at university first. Give yourself some time to adjust. If you aren't sure, go easy on yourself and start small.

And GOOD LUCK! I am sure you will do GREAT whatever you choose to do!!!!!
