wake tech and NCSU... partnership?

We Answered:

I attended a community college before transferring to NCSU in Engineering. I did not attend any of the ones you list. Here are some advantages of community college:

1) less expensive
2) student to professor ratios and class size are generally smaller. (My Freshman Chemistry class had 24 people. At NCSU, is would be close to 200).
3) due to smaller class size, the study can be more in-depth in some subjects.

Disadvantages:

1) your GPA starts over at NCSU and will be based solely on more advanced classes. A lower grade in a class will affect someone with less credit hours than someone who has been there for the full four years.
2) it takes some time to acclimate to living at and attending a large unversersity and you are having to do so while taking more advanced classes.
3) some credit hours from a community college may not transfer though I have heard that some of this problem has been reduced by community colleges going to a semester system. Additionally, it appears that Wake Tech as partnered with NCSU to make the transition seamless.

To check on what course work will transfer to NCSU, or any other university, you need to check with the Office of Admissions. Your should be able to find a contact on the State Website (www.ncsu.edu)

Good job for an 18 year old?

We Answered:

A good job for an 18 year is the job that the 18 year old can get it's hands on.
In this economy you don't pick what you want to work in unless you have specialized in a career.

You'd like a decent paying job? Well not to pop the bubble your in, but you're going to get paid minimum wage, slightly higher if you're lucky.

You will get paid hourly. You want an estimate here it goes, i live in CA. we get paid 8.00 minimum wage. If you work full time, no overtime, it's 40 hrs. 8x40= 320 a week/640 if you're paid bi weekly. There's 4 weeks in the month. 320x4= $1280.

You get about $1280, if you work 40 hrs a week getting paid 8 bucks an hr.
But then you have to take taxes away etc etc..
