I am already enrolled in college and am a single mother. What grants are available to me other than FAFSA?

We Answered:

grants.gov is for business's and organizations, FAFSA infor will send out to grant scholarships... you will be offted what you will get, some more are usually offered after a semester or year of good grades.... your financial aid office will have a list of scholarships and you may qualify for some of them just apply right their in the office, I have never found a site with true grants scholarships for school that have not been available at the school

Chris Said:

Where can I go to get information on grants for single mothers to pay for college.?

We Answered:

There are three sources to seek out for grants and scholarships out there.

First, apply at FAFSA.ed.gov because it will help tap into both federal and college specific financial aid.

Second, check out your college's financial aid website since some do list private organization, and company scholarships on it.

Third, join free scholarship websites. Most are updated on a regular basis.

Finally, pay attention to the deadlines on the application forms and apply well before the deadline happens. Also, go to the sponsor's website to get a feel for the organization and their philosophy because it can give you a better idea of how to tackle the essay portion on the application.

Good luck!

Fernando Said:

How do I get the Grants for single mothers going to college?

We Answered:

FAFSA is the first step (www.fafsa.ed.gov). Some schools do have special grants for single parents. Each school is different, though, so you will need to do some research. The Admissions rep or the Financial Aid Office at each school can let you know what's available.

There might also be private scholarships for single parents. Try www.fastweb.com to see what you can find.

Good luck!
