How do you know a college is right for you?We Answered:
The good news is that now that you have made a mistake, you know more about what you are looking for, and you can find out much more easily if a college is right for you.At this point, I would make a list of things you want in a college and things you want to avoid. You now know that it is not all about the major, but about a fit with the personality of the college.
So you can go onto the college's website and look for those things first, then call and talk to someone in admissions, look for information on sites like this one or Princeton Review (which looks at more than just what your requirements have to be to get in) and others to find out if a college seems to be acceptable. Then when you have narrowed it down, I really would try to visit the campus, although right now you might get a skewed view because there are very few students around at this time of year on most campuses.
Ask a lot of questions. Tell people who you are and what you like, and ask if you would fit in here. For example, if you don't drink, and people have to think hard to come up with the name of one other person who doesn't drink, it may not be a fit. Or if you are into a particular kind of music, and you ask students and they say, "Oh, yeah. There was that one girl who lived over in that other dorm who was into that too, but I think she graduated," you know you would be alone in your interests.
I'm not familiar with Daemen College, but I do find it interesting that you said that everyone was stuck up little rich kids. Then you said that BOTH of your roommates were there for the same reason you were and you all left. It is highly unlikely that they would have stuck the three people on campus who were not "stuck up little rich kids" into one room, so my guess is that you were all predisposed to dislike the place, and nothing anyone would have said would have changed your minds. There were probably lots of people just like you there. After all, there were at least two other people there who were there for the same reasons you were, and they could have become lifelong friends if you had stuck it out. You won't find a college at which everyone is just like you, and if you are looking for that, you will be disappointed everywhere.
Don't discount private schools. I've now worked at three of them. At the first one I worked for, almost every student there was the child of immigrants and a first-generation college student. Their parents sacrificed a lot so that they could have the kind of education they could only dream about. The second one had a lot of spoiled rich kids, but even there, there were a lot of kids on scholarship who were struggling to get by. At my current school, there seems to be a mixture. No one seems really rich (in fact, the students at the local public university seem to come from far wealthier families than do our students), but we get a mix of those who are looking forward to their next really nice vacation and those who won't get a vacation because they need to work to pay their expenses.

Can I get accepted to the College of St.Rose in Albany,NY with a 72 Average in High school? We Answered:
You say you are a transfer student. It's impossible to answer this question without knowing your grades from the college you are transferring from. If you have a significant amount of credits, they will totally ignore your high school record. If you have an AA or AS degree and at least a 2.5 you will automatically be admitted. If you have less credits or a lower average they will look at you individually. This is a fairly small college and you will be a person not a number. They will want your high school transcript to show that you graduated but only the college counts. The will admit you as long as your record shows that you can be successful. (It is harder to be accepted into certain programs such as communications disorders, music, and art.)Julie Said:

what major should i pick to become an engineer in the electrical field? We Answered:
People major in one thing in college and do something different in the work force all the time. I'm and Electrical Engineer and Computer Programmer and one of the best programmers in our company has a Mechanical Engineering degree. The Business Admin with Human Resources isn't a bad route, but you should check with people and companies in this field and verify that you don't need (or must have) a technical/engineering degree. Keep in mind also that college doesn't teach you how to do any specific job. It's mainly a proving ground used to show that you can learn and a filter mechanism for company's to limit the number of candidates it has to consider for a job, if need be. Finally, try to get a co-op job or an internship. It will help you relate what college has to offer to the real world.
