Especially in television and broadcast journalism, people who graduate from there with these majors are said to be picked up by the "Northwestern mafia", a nickname for Northwestern alumni who are very influential in the communication field. They would pick up and nurture Northwestern graduates seeking a career. In cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, the number of Northwestern alumni involved in theater, film, and television has lead to perception of there being a "Northwestern mafia".Francisco Said:
