Five Towns College

Tom Said:

Are pets allowed in the dorms of Five Towns College?

We Answered:

Because people have allergies, dorms are small, pets need a lot of time and attention, and having a bunch of animals around would be chaotic I highly doubt they do. Most university dorms do not allow any animals except for fish or small turtles. I didn't see anything mentioned on their website but don't assume it means yes. Call housing.

We Answered:

if it says college at the end, it's usually pretty easy to get into... it's when it says university that's when the requirements might be out of reach. good luck and i'm sure you'll do fine

Stephanie Said:

How can I get to Five Towns College via Public Trans.?

We Answered:

Hi, I'm currently a FTC student, and I live in the Bronx, on the 4 line. I use to be a commuter my first two years, I'm going to start dorming in the Fall, and I suggest you to try to dorm or drive, because the commute is about 3-4 hours long from the Bronx, and it cost a lot of money. Ok first you need to take the train all the way to 34th and Penn Station (only 1,2,3,A,C,E trains stop there). Secondly you need to buy a ticket from Penn to Babylon (which currently cost $16.50). Then once in Babylon you need to get on the S23 (which runs from 6am-6pm, once every hour. The s23 bus always leaves Babylon station to FTC at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, etc, and you must have exact amount for the bus fair. Regular people $1.50, and students $1.00). The bus ride takes about 30 minutes, and it will annouce very very loudly when it is reaching Five Towns. Like I said before it's a very long commute, and I got tired of it. That's why I'm dorming next Fall 08. Good luck, and I hope you don't get lost.

What do you think of Five Towns College?

We Answered:

I used to go to Five Towns College, I just transfered this past semester. I will tell you the good and the bad:

The Good:
The people are AMAZING. I will never find better friends anywhere else besides FTC. Everyone is really friendly, and everyone is really artsy. The school is a music school, I couldn't go down the hall without hearing music. The professors are professionals in their field, so they know what they are talking about. It's a small school, so you aren't a number...you are a name and you will get the attention you want and need. If you plan on living there, the dorms are really nice & new. It's only two people to a bathroom. Also you form a really great relationship with your advisor which is unique to the school.

The Bad: It's in the middle of nowhere, so it can get quite boring if you don't have a car. You might feel like the classes are too easy, and outside of your music classes you aren't learning anything. A huge problem with the school is that a lot of people are negative towards it, like they say "Five Towns isn't a real school or Five Towns is 13th grade" That can get really fustrating, one of the reasons why I left. But if you like it and enjoy it, STAY POSITIVE and you won't let them bother you. Another bad thing is that it is kinda expensive, not too terrible but certainly more than a state school. Also as a music education major you will be taking a lot of credits in each semester, but that's how it is in all schools. It's a lot of work.

While I was at FTC I really did have a good time. The reason why I left was mainly because they didn't have what I wanted to do. This school you either love or hate. I loved it because of the people and most of the professors. I hated it because there weren't a lot of class choices, it was far away from home, and they didn't have any art classes. I do miss a lot of FTC though, I met amazing people there and I wish that I still got to see them every day. I wish you the best of luck on your decision.
