St Thomas is in the Miami Gardens area and Barry University is in Miami Shores. St Thomas is the cheaper of the two and Barry is over-crowded.

IMPORTANT: Make sure the college you choose is accredited (not all "Christian colleges" are), so your credits can transfer to another college if necessary, and your degree will be accepted if you decide to go for a masters degree. The CCCU members probably are accredited.

Generally I don't think that college/university residences allow any kind of pets. You'd need to look at living off-campus if you want to keep your kitty. I've had my cat for 11 years, so I know what you mean.

I don't really know about central florida but I'm from West Palm Beach and there's a christian university called Palm Beach Atlantic. It's really prestigious.

Nearly all colleges accept GEDs, but whether or not you'll get in with your GED depends on other things. Often, when someone has a GED instead of a regular HS diploma, a college will pay special attention to things like the SAT. If your SAT is in line with the averages for the school, you have a shot of getting in.

And if you want to major in music, and they require an audition, that's actually highly in your favor. It's normally the case that your audition will weigh heavily in their admissions decision. If you audition well, it could balance out having slightly lower SATs or etc. So practice!
