Sheila Said:
If you 're father was in the army for a few years, do you qualify for any college/government grants? We Answered:
Yes you are quilyfy for it it also depens of what rank it is your father I know that because I am in the ARMY JROTC and I ask the same question to my instructors so yes you can.Jerry Said:
do college grants provided by the federal government actually hurt those who want to succeed? We Answered:
I think grants are a wonderful idea. I do agree that it seems like some kids are just there to party and play with the free money. Keep in mind that those are usually the ones who drop out or don't even get ahead in life. Taking away grants and federal help for those who are honestly trying I think would be completely wrong! What about all those who didn't grow up with all of the benefits that some do? Are you supposed to just cast those people aside and say no to them? What about those trying to do what they dreamed of all their lives and finally getting that chance to go back and try it? Can you say no to them? And although I can see where you might think that the more college grads there are, the less jobs there will be, I have to disagree with you there as well. Those who go forth are usually the ones to create more jobs for people who need them. If you don't like the social life of your college, you don't have to be involved. I hope you might change your aspect on this. Grants are wonderful for the people who actually need them. Good Luck and Happy Studying!Teresa Said:
How much money does The United States government have for college grants? We Answered:
Mitch:You can find information of this nature at several different sites. One of the easiest is the http://studentaid.ed.gov page, where you'll find this passage:
"The Department's Federal student aid programs are the largest source of student aid in America. If you're interested in financial aid for college or a career school, you've come to the right place. These programs provide more than $100 billion a year in grants, loans, and work-study assistance."
If you want to see more specific numbers, you can read up on the Department of Education's financial aid budget here: http://www.ed.gov/about/overview/budget/…
Other sources include http://college.ed.gov and http://studentaid.ed.gov/students/attach…
I hope this help - good luck on your research project!

How much can I expect to receive in government grants for college? We Answered:
You have to fill out the FAFSA in order to determine how much financial aid you can receive. Have it sent to the school you want to attend and then contact their financial aid office to let them know you sent your FAFSA to them and have them check to see if they need any paperwork or more information from you. Once they have everything, they will process your file and you will be awarded. From the looks of it, you should be eligible for most of the pell grant, which is $5500. You should also be awarded subsidized loans, which are better to take than unsubsidized loans.
Best thing to do is fill out your FAFSA asap. When you complete the application, it will give you a summary of what your EFC is (The lower the better. Means you will get the maximum financial aid.) and how much in pell grants you should be expecting.
