Getting College Recommendation Letters Almost Two Years After High School?

We Answered:

Hi,

So, a lot of time if you contact your school's counselor's office they can write a letter of recommendation for you based on your previous records at the school.

On the flip side, if you have three or four teachers who you were so-so with, you can contact them after the fact and do the following:

1) Ask them if they will be willing, don't ASSUME!
2) Provide them with all the information they need so that they can write the recommendation if they don't remember you.

To do the second option, contact them, and include a copy of your resume, remind them which course they had with you. However, do an add'l sheet, create questions that are useful, such as:

1) What are your career goals?
2) What are you the most proud of?
3) How did you view academics?
4) What type of student were you (B average or above)

...and answer them for your teacher and provide it as an add'l document that might be helpful. I do recommendations all the time and I make my student's submit a pre-designed sheet where they have to answer these questions to make my letter writing easier.

Can someone tell me whether the military will accept these college credits?

We Answered:

Usually the Course Number signifies whether it is a 100 level course or not. In your case it appears that they are, but I am not sure what that level 50 means. I would suggest that you go to Registration and Records at your school and ask them. They keep track of courses and their numbering. That would be your best bet to find out whether these courses count towards your goal and the military. Good Luck.

I'm confused about whether the military will accept these college credits or not, help?

We Answered:

Basically what the military wants are college level classes not high school level classes.

Those look like the right level (2 101s and a 103). Why it says level 50 is a stumper.
