Jennifer Said:
should i go into neurology or cardiology? We Answered:
You're high school GPA is important for getting into the school you want (as is your SAT's), but what's more important is that you figure out what field you want to go into BEFORE you choose your school. No school is top in both fields so you don't want to choose a school then find out the other one has a better (more recognized) program in your field. Cardiology is HUGE right now and will probably stay that way. You'll make a ton of money if you're a cardiac surgeon, and it usually guarantees you can pick where you work. The same goes for neurology (lots of money, pick your location); however, it's not as active a field. People tend to have more heart problems than brain problems (at least the kind treated by a neurologist anyways...psychology is a whole different story). Either way you should always consider having a backup plan NO MATTER WHAT because college is a whole nother story compared to high school. You might find out you like something else entirely so it's good to find a school that has some other options. U.C. San Francisco for example is purely medical, while UCLA and the others you mentioned have some other fields of study (i believe). good luck, remember you have 2 years to decided what school to go to, and the rest of your life to figure out what you like doing. Just don't ever confuse having a career with having a life and you'll be fine. Work to live, don't live to work.Pamela Said:
when applying to medical school , does it really matter where you went for your undergrad ?We Answered:
Where you go for your undergrad carries much less weight than a high GPA, high MCAT scores, research and clinical experience and volunteer hours. Augusta State has a pre-med office that has some good advice to offer. See link below.Apply to several medical schools, including Medical College of Georgia. Do research as an undergraduate. Shadow physicians or do volunteer work at a hospital or nursing home.

Lorain County Community College?? (OHIO)?We Answered:
I don't know the exact neighborhood. I've been to Lorain a few times, and I wouldn't have any concerns about living there. It's right at the edge of Cleveland, but it's not the big city.Mike Said:
Which is the best college (out of these)? We Answered:
Oh come on.... I can understand choosing the better college out of two or three, but a list of 35?You're going to have to do your own research on this one. I don't know what qualities you are looking for in a college, so I can't decide which one is the "best" for you.
You can't pick a college by throwing a huge list online and having some random guy on the Internet choose what they think is the "best" one. You need to put more of your own thought into it.
Milton Said:
What kind of math should I take in hs to get into a medical program in college? We Answered:
Most colleges like to see a mix of mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, advanced mathematics, and geometry) Calculus is a plus, but not necessary. Most colleges will also take your mathematics grades into consideration, as well as your ACT/SAT scores when placing you into your first math. Medical programs generally are pre-med or biology. An A in Algebra 2 will look about the same as an A in Advanced Algebra 2. The biggest difference is if you choose to take any of the college advanced placement tests. Sometimes for them, the advanced courses can prepare you more.
