I just finished my prereqs to transfer to a UC this past spring from MJC. To be honest, I think what is happening to new students like yourself is a poor reflection on our values in our state. Seriously, how can you transfer in a timely fashion when you can't even get into the classes you need??

Know what I did? I applied for EOPS which gives you priority registration. If you are a first generation student or low income you'll qualify. If you qualify for the Board of Governor's fee waiver you have a strong chance. Go to the first available session (late summer) and sign up IMMEDIATELY. GO TO THE FIRST SESSION. Last year they stopped at the first session because slots filled up quickly. This program gives you priority registration which means you will get into all the classes you need.

If you don't qualify for that program try TRIO. I don't know the requirements for TRIO but I know they also offer priority registration.

If all else fails, take classes so you can build up your credits so you can get a good registration date. (HINT!!! If you are going for a liberal arts degree try taking humanities and history classes that are IGETC compatible. If you are a science person, don't try to fill up on tranferable units if your university has a unit cap on the major, in other words, take some non-transferable courses until you can start getting into the meaty science and math classes if you are going for that) I highly recommend doing those programs I mentioned if you are eligible. Definitely know what field of science you are going into so you can start planning. Don't be like me and have to apply for a change of major at the university because I completed the IGETC without a clear focus.

Note: I had enough transfer units to go to UC Berkeley in ONE YEAR because of the EOPS program.

MJC offers college enrollment for high school students that requires a principal's signature, among other things. They offer some classes in the summer semesters, but I am not sure if you mean summer school for college courses or summer school for high school classes.
