NYU
NYIT
Columbia University
Bard College
Marymount Manhattan College
The New School
Fordham University

Those are all in Manhattan except for Bard.

You can try the CUNY schools too almost all of them don't have housing so if you're coming out of state, you'd need to rent an apartment or if you have relatives try to see if you can stay with them. The two that I know that are in Manhattan are Hunter and City college.

st. johns university
queens college
stony brook (but that's in long island)

semi good:
pace
any of the cuny schools
baruch college
college of mount st. vincent
maymount manhattan college
st francis college

bad:
i can't really name the bad schools...there are some community colleges that are bad...

it really depends what major you want to do. some are better than others in the sciences or in the humanities department.
or you can be looking at a specialized school such as FIT or the parsons new school for design for fashion-related careers, the new york film academy for film, or the tisch school of the arts for acting.
btw, there are a lot more schools in ny! those are just some of the few i can think of right now
