I'm not sure if they have a waiting list, but you might want to try Clackamas Community College (its about 20 min outside of Portland). It's a great community college, and they have a partnership with OHSU (a prominent hospital/ medical university). Because CCC is outside of Portland, they may have less nursing applicants. Hm, I've never heard of a community college offering a sports program, but it appears this one does. I would assume you would find out the days of try-outs, and any clinical days they might have beforehand, and attend those. Best of luck in making the team!

Portland Community College is really good, but not so personal.

Central Oregon CC in Bend Oregon has great programs, a caring staff, and it's a nice smaller town that has a lot of things going for it.

If I had the choice I'd move to Bend. Not as much rain in the high desert..but really beautiful.

It's expensive to live around LA. Also, the actual city of Los Angeles isn't the safest place to live. I would say you should become financially sound before coming to live here.

Southern California is a very diverse place. You will most likely fit in somewhere. It isn't that far from Oregon, so you can visit your family when you want to.

Mt. Hood Community College and also Portland Community College. I've done it. I went to Mt. Hood for 2.5 years and transferred to Portland state university. Portland Community is in a some-what bad neighborhood. But, Portland Community is a bit cheaper.
