Isla Vista is such an close community-- everyone you know will be in college. if you go to LA, you're more likely to find a diverse community. So really, if you're looking to swim with your own for 4 (or 5 or 6) years, go to SB; if you're looking to broaden your horizons, head south.

It will probably be less expensive than UoP in most cases. The Santa Barbara financial aid people can tell you what the final amount is after they subtract grants and scholarships. They’re really good at finding those.
