Santa Fe Community College

Santa Fe Community College...?

We Answered:

Santa Fe is a major pipeline to UF for transfer students. I know at least a dozen people that went to Santa Fe first and transferred into UF.

A lot of professors at SFCC are closely related to UF some teach both at UF and SFCC. I think that going to SFCC eases the transition to UF since the professors know that a lot of the students that go to SFCC will end up at UF so the curriculum at SFCC is set up so all the classes will transfer to UF without a problem.

It seems to me that the students at SFCC are more motivated and most of them are not the typical community college slackers I have seen at other community colleges.

The great thing about SFCC is that you get to meet a lot of students that go to UF that are just taking general ed classes at SFCC therefore you can get the inside word on everything at UF which will give you a leg up on people that are trying to transfer into UF from other community colleges.

I highly recommend SFCC if you are looking to go to UF and want to do your first two years in a community college. The great thing also is that UF administrators regularly come to SFCC to talk to students so you can meet people that can help you get into UF. They have a Gator Day at SFCC every semester were representatives from every department and college comes to SFCC to talk to Santa Fe students.

Vanessa Said:

Is It Santa Fe Community College guarantees transfer admissions into UF?

We Answered:

I graduated from UF and I know for a fact that it is not guaranteed. Although attending Santa Fe may improve your chances because SF is suppose to be a pretty good school, but there are other things that they look at to consider admissions (dedication, courseload per semester, ability to be involved on campus, volunteer or work experience.). If possible make a trip to the campus and try to get know the admission persons or email them and try and get your name notice. I know they look at thousands of applications but don't let that discourage you. I am not sure how Polk Community College is judged academically but if you feel that transferring will be better than go for it. GPA is good but show some dedication by getting involved. Good Luck!!!!!
