South Florida Colleges

Shirley Said:

What are best colleges in south florida which arent expensive?

We Answered:

New College (of the University of South Florida) is considered very exclusive, but the cost is based on state college rates.

It's in Sarasota. Again, it is very exclusive (i.e., hard to get into), but it is a very good college academically.

If you're looking for football, U of Miami and U of South Florida. Good educations (which is likely true of all universities if the student is a good student), but not considered exclusive or Harvard-esque, by any means.

South Florida Colleges?

We Answered:

I believe FIU is the better academic school.

(a) It is harder to get into (36% acceptance rate for FIU, versus a 56% acceptance rate for FAU) and more valedictorians from South Florida attend Florida International University than any other university in the country.

(b) FIU has the better business school hands-down- it's ranked 7th (by USN&WR) for undergraduate business, and 11th nationally for international business.

(c) Comparing incoming freshmen: for FAU, the average high school GPA for an entering freshman was 3.0, with a 1046 (math & verbal combined) score on the SAT. For FIU, the average incoming freshmen had an average SAT score of 1161, a 25 ACT score and a 3.8 high school GPA.

This info is all from the wikipedia sites for each university.

what are some really good colleges in south florida?

We Answered:

ok it depends what your interested in. I'm planning on going to UM.

University of Miami- EXPENSIVE!!! Not too hard to get in but very good college over all.

FIU- Great College, Cheap and close to home. They have a North Campus that's 5 minutes away from Biscayne and 163rd street or the South Campus which is ages away from the North but is good for a lot of people south of NMB.

Nova Southeastern University- Good but not the best

Berry University- Good for nursing

Miami Dade County College- Good for your 1st 2 years (associates degree) but u will want to move to a better college for your advanced degree. But there is a campus everywhere!!!

So, there you have it. UM is amazing if you can afford it. So is FIU. Again, it depends on what u want to do. These colleges r good for different things. But overall, I think UM is the best.

What are some good COLLEGES in FLORIDA and SOUTH CAROLINA?

We Answered:

I'll tell you how to do this the easy way.

Go to collegeboard.com [from the SAT company], enter 4-year under type of schools, location can be restricted to your selected states, and under majors enter 'education' and then highlight the likely majors.

There are many great schools in those three states for your Bachelor's. The ultimate would be The New College of Florida and Georgia Tech.
Make sure that you enter your SAT or ACT scores and also your GPA so that the service can recommend schools that are likely to admit you - apply to at least three and make sure that you apply to at least one in your home state's public system. Finances have a way of getting in the way of plans.

what are some good cheap cities in south florida for a college freshman and sophomore to move to?

We Answered:

The east coast is cheaper living the father south you go in Fla how ever if you can get into the central area leesburg - eustis - are cheaper away from the ocean sites but anywhere from mid Fla east is cheaper the west coast is higher and the closer you get to the coast the higher it is because of tourist attractions but avoid Orlando ...Naples is a good area also.

Edward Said:

Does anyone know of any colleges in south florida that offers a sports medicine program?

We Answered:

If you mean becoming a sports medicine doctor, you need to go to medical school (after college). The overall path is:

4 years of college
4 years of med school
3-5 years of residency (depending on the specialty route you pick)
1 year of sports medicine fellowship

In college you can major in whatever you like, as long as you take the premed prereq classes....so pick the strongest academic program you can find in SF.

Medical school is the same for everyone--the type of medicine you ultimately practice is dictated by the residency/fellowship training. So any of the medical schools in Florida would suit. You can get to sports medicine via a residency in internal medicine, emergency medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, or orthopedics...it depends on your angle of interest.

What are some good nursing colleges in South Florida?

We Answered:

Miami Dade has one of the best nursing programs out their. Although the schools is kinda horrible at everything else it is renowned nationally for its nursing major. UF, FSU, and UCF are great for nursing as well but not in the south. USF(University of South Florida) is good but not great. FIU is ok and a LOT less renowned then any of the others. At least to whoever doesn't live in South Florida.

Anyhow, hope i helped,
