Transfer from Middlesex County College New Jersey to City College San Francisco to UC Berkeley?

We Answered:

The UC system is pretty impacted. It depends on what you want to study. I doubt you'll be able to transfer right away. There's a waiting list for even the smaller schools.

As far as I know you can't bypass out of state fees for up to 5 years after you move here. There may be ways if you are disabled or a war refugee or something. Other than that you should ask them.

Some people I know have enrolled for a semester in a smaller UC school and then transferred to UCB. That may have changed too. A lot of the regulations are changing because of the budget problems. Some schools aren't allowing students to enter in the spring semester. it may be easier to get in if you go during the summer semester. It's usually far less crowded and you are already a continuing student in the fall.

Mainly you should sign up for anything that's open just so you have a class and be considered an continuing student.

What do you think of Berkeley College in New Jersey?

We Answered:

It is an unranked for-profit school (all real colleges are non-profit) whose main claim to fame is that when their students say they went to Berkeley a lot of people will mistakenly think they went to University of California at Berkeley.

Don't go there -- go to a real college.

Casey Said:

How could I move to New Jersey soon to avoid paying out of state college fees?

We Answered:

I know a student who wanted to go to uni in Texas. He made sure he did his last year of school in Texas, to ensure he paid the lower fees in uni.

Then you must live that year in the new state - the one where you want to go to uni.

Info needed about Ramapo College of New Jersey?

We Answered:

Ramapo is a really great place. People there are very friendly. I would strongly recomend that you live on campus. The parking kind of sucks but freshman are allowed to park on campus and (hello!) laundry is FREE! It's famous for being a "suitcase school", meaning everyone goes home on the weekends. So not really many huge parties. But every now and then you get a big party which usually gets busted by security. So you're better off just throwning your own party. Personally, find an awesone RA to live with and depending on how cool he/she is you can do whatever you want. If you need any other advise feel free to send me a message.

Have a great time, behave, and good luck!
