Bobby Said:

I am 22 years old and want to move to Vancouver, BC...is it a good place to start a career?

We Answered:

No, Vancouver isn't exactly overflowing with actors looking to catch a break.. at least, not like L.A. - I have a few friends who make a full time living as actors, but they are certainly the minority as most people need anotherr job to pay the bills.

Also, there is something of a "glass ceiling" here - the majority of starring roles for the big features are cast-in-Hollywood imports.. most actors I know make semi-regular pilgramages down south, line up a bunch of go-sees in hopes of landing a big role..

Vancouver's a pretty good place to live - picturesque, fairly cosmopolitan, relatively mild weather, routinely awarded the title of one of the world's most liveable cities.. There's plenty of work for the next four years with the Olympics coming - esp. in the construction sectors...

Real estate prices here are the highest in Canada - min $250k for a small apartment, $500k for a detatched house
