I would also check out half.com as well if you don't get anyone to buy your books.

placement testing?

We Answered:

Study up on your basic algebra and geometry. That's what the math placement tests asks a lot of. For reading, it's just a lot of passage based reading and answering the questions which you can find in the text. Try collegeboard.com because the questions on their practice tests are a little bit harder than the placement test at a community college. It's always good to quiz yourself on harder stuff because the easy stuff will just flow into your brain.

Uwielbiam je??."

PS. Kasia is a polish name similar to yours;) Instead of "Mam 18 lat" you can use "Mam osiemna?cie lat";) I hope that by "sophomore" you mean a "second-year student";) If not, just write me an e-mail;)
I made two phrases from last one;) "My favourite colour is orange and I love to eat"- Instead of this is "My favourite colour is orange. I love to eat" because it sounds better in polish and this is gramatically correct;)

Greetings from Poland;)

can community colleges deny Pell grant if i'm not 24?

We Answered:

If you are under 24, then you MUST report your mother's income on the FAFSA. If she is living off disability, then you will most likely still get your grant. They will calculate how much they think she needs to contribute based on her earnings. Since she doesn't earn much she won't be expected to contribute much (if anything).
So, yes... they can deny you a grant if you do not provide your parents' information. This is not a law specific to Illinois or your community college. The Pell grant is a federal program and it is federally regulated.
You will need to fill out the FAFSA again. If you find that your EFC does end up being higher, then you can appeal to the financial aid office at your school. If you just got laid off, then you will not be making the same amount of money that was reported on your taxes. They can adjust your EFC accordingly. The financial aid office usually wants to do everything they can to get you the most federal money that you can legally get. But, they still have to follow the regulations and those regulations say your mom's info has to be on the FAFSA as well.

Trying to get into Community College with an online H.S Diploma?

We Answered:

If the school that issued your HS diploma is accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education, then I would see no reason your diploma wouldn't be accepted.

Anyways, if you are applying to a community college they will sometimes accept students without a HS diploma or GED. They have an admissions test and if you score high enough you qualify to enroll.

Remember, community colleges are non-competitive. They tend to have an "open door" kind of policy.

Discuss It!
