What College Is Right For Me

Annie Said:

How do you know if going to college is the right decision for you?

We Answered:

Traveling/taking a year or semester off is great for some people. If you feel burned out after high school, then you might enjoy this option; however, keep in mind that traveling is very expensive. Also, if you take time off, you will feel left out, because probably the majority of your friends will be in college, and they will regale you with stories of great parties, new friends, great classes, etc.
I would go to college if I were you. Keep in mind that most people don't feel 'ready' to go to college--it's a huge step, and very scary. That can deter some people from going. But you do need to take chances and challenge yourself.
There are people who don't go to college and are successful, but they are few and far between. What it really comes down to is options. It is undebatable that having a college degree opens a lot of doors for you that would be closed if you don't have one.

Erik Said:

What is the best way to decide which college is the right college?

We Answered:

My first resource when I was looking for colleges was the internet. Websites like Princeton Review: review.com and others were extremely helpful. I found Princeton Review most helpful though because it has a great, comprehensive questionaire called "Counselor-O-Matic" that will bring back results of colleges that match your interests. I found a lot of the schools I applied to through this and through research on which colleges had the best programs in my fields of interest. The book I used for the latter information was the "Fiske Guide to Getting into College," but there are additional books that talk solely about colleges strong in a particular program. Just look online at Amazon or go to your local bookstore.

I feel your pain, all that college mail gets so abnoxious. Something to do when you find a college that interests you: go to their website and the prospective student section and request additional information. Usually, they will send you a nice packet and brochure, and I know I always got excited when the schools I was ACTUALLY interested in sent me things.

When you start to narrow down your school choices, consider visiting. Even if it's far away, you will likely find it very worthwhile. If possible, do overnight visits and stay with a student on campus. It will give you a feel for what students and the campus are like. Good luck!

I am a student in college right know and I was wondering.....What is the best way for me to lose 20 Pounds?

We Answered:

No, do not use diet pills. They are really bad for you and they work only temporarily. I know of a program that will easily help you lose your 20 lbs. within 6-8 weeks. See where to go in the source list below. Good luck!

Dwight Said:

Should you go to college right after high school?

We Answered:

a lot of people take some time off in between college and high school. especially if you are working, this will show your dream school that you know how to survive in the real world. however, don't give up so easily. there are a lot of financial aid programs and i know my school has a work-study program where you get a job on campus to help pay for your tuition. if you don't get the financial aid package you need, taking time off won't be a bad idea.
