Think about his skill in flexibility of thought - I know that with many students on the spectrum the comprehension issue is impacted by their inability to understand others perspective. For example if in their mind a girl always interacts a particular way - they won't relate to situations that have a girl acting in a different way than he believes she should. They don't understand because it is not their reality.

So checking for conprehension should also include some work on what else could happen - or what do you think could happen next - what else.

It seems like it is non-specific but it does get at the global issues of lack of perspective impacting comprehension.
