If these are scores that you received before completing the Kaplan course, then you are fine. If you put 3 months into studying for it via Kaplan and finish your sciences, your scores should improve by at least 3-5 points.

If you will go to the Dental School websites, they usually have a profile of the last entering class. Ages, DAT scores, GPA, etc.
Another thing to do is to contact your pre professional committee at your school and ask them. If they are not good enough, they will not write you a letter of recommendation.

Listen, if you need a friend, my emails on my profile. That's number one. Number two, you need to look at the positives, even if you can't find any in you. Do you live in a good house? Do your family care about you? I bet they do but even if they don't, then look at the beauty in life. Leaves and nature and stuff. And people! And don't get desperate... try this. Learn to play an instrument, any instrument, it will give you a cause to keep on going. Like I said, emails on my page. Have hopes and dreams, I bet you'll pass the test. Good Luck!

Are you looking to apply this year? You have a great GPA but you're right, your DAT is a little low. Many schools have minimum requirements in each category and it's usually around 17. I would say to plan on applying next year if you could put it off. Study like crazy to retake the DAT and you should be up in the 18-19 range easy. It seems odd that you have a higher GPA and a low DAT score.

With that being said, I don't want you to lose hope. There is still a chance that you can get in. Dental schools go off a rolling admissions so you're already behind in that regard but if the rest of your application looks good then I say go for it!

Bottom line: if you want to apply this year (matriculate in Fall 2011) then you better get your butt in gear and get a move on. If you're applying for 2012 then you should retake the DAT and continue to work on your application i.e. job shadow, volunteer, work experience, etc. I just finished applying this year so let me know if you have anymore questions, good luck.
