Listening Comprehension English
Antonio Said:
"My English listening comprehension can't follow."?We Answered:
It would sound strange, yes.The closest way that I can think of to say it would be something like
" My English listening comprehension level isn't adequate"
But that sounds a bit contrived -its better just to say "I don't understand"

How can I brush up on my listening comprehension skills in English? We Answered:
I would watch the news and tv programs, the movies in English (you can use the subtitles in your own language), listen to songs in English, watch videos on youtube and websites like that. You can also get audiobooks in English and download some podcasts. If you're looking for exercises for listening comprehension, here's a good website for that:

the relationship between learning English by watching movies and listening comprehension skill? We Answered:
Definitely a good one. When I started living in Germany I spent a lot of time watching TV of varying levels (children's TV up to cop shows) and it helped a lot. Immersion is the key to learning a language. Since moving to the States my German knowledge faded, but I have recently got the Dish Network German package and it really helped get me back up to speed.Biggest difference, German is written as it sounds, whereas English is one big anomaly. So if you hear a word you don't know, you may not know how to spell it to look it up.

Need help to improve english listening comprehension...?We Answered:
I don't know if I'm the right person to answer your question, considering the fact that I'm only 16 and English is not my native language, but I have been in the same situation as you.I have always had a huge interest for English and I've studied the language for six years both in school and at home in my free time. When I was about twelve I had no problems writing and reading English but the fact that I live(d) in Sweden really made it harder for me to catch up on the speaking and hearing part.
I also found it hard to understand what they were saying on tv, especially when watching American shows where they speak really fast and use many informal idioms and phrases, well slang that is. Also native speakers of English don't make pauses between each word, they connect them, which makes a lot of non-native speakers very confused.
So, how did i deal with this problem?
At first I didn't really, then I suddenly became this huge fan of the tv-series lost, I watched it all the time! Which lead to me hearing lots of different accents of the English language. So gradually I started picking up on how all these word connections work and started to understand a lot more.
You could also try looking up accent coaches on youtube, like Rachelsenglish, they often teach the special sounds in the language and that really helps a lot ! Also find different tv-shows/movies in English with themes you like. Listening to music and audio-books and maybe even making friends with some native English-speakers online to talk to on Skype could work.
Good luck. Hope this helped at least a little!
