Making Inferences Reading Comprehension

Evelyn Said:

Should I be offended by this comment?

We Answered:

Even the most intelligent of people can struggle with intelligent books!

It's not the subject matter, or the "long words" people struggle with, but sometimes the way the authour actually writes!

Some people make good points, but you have to wade through heaps of unneccessary prose, awkward sentances and unorganised thought processes!

OR, it could be that the book is smoothy written, but the authour assumes the (intelligent) reader is already familiar with books and themes they reference.
For example:
In a book about..say...The Renaissance, it's possible for an authour to get VERY carried away with classical or scriptural themes that were revived during that time.
If you haven't read the classics, you'll be left scratching your head!

I'd say that your Mum's Fiance is already aware of how intelligent you are, and is admitting to you that even he had trouble with a book he thinks you'll find interesting.
