I'm very sorry that you're under so much stress. Your parents sound like they love you very much and want to protect you, even if it seems overwhelming to you. They also sound like a typical European or foreign family in the USA...they want their children to be over-achievers and great students so they can make it in this new country and have more than they did. Just try to take it all in stride. Do your best, know your family loves you, and recognize that you are doing GREAT! All A's except for a B+ in English is FANTASTIC...I went to a very good highschool and college and earned A's, B's, and C's my whole life. Try not to stress out..you're doing great. Your parents are just worried about you because even if you live in a small town, people will ill-intentions can be anywhere and your parents don't want you to get robbed, raped, or kidnapped. Keep up the good work, try to level with your parents for a little more leniency with the curfew or constantly calling...but if not, just accept that that's the way your family is. Try to enjoy life, it looks like you'll go very far successfully!

Some good websites to check out are ABCteach.com, edhelper.com, enchantedlearning.com, or learningplanet.com. This is where i get a majority of my comprehension passages from. Usually, i have to change the questions though in order to make them more challenging for my enrichment students.

I have a son with autism who also is speech delayed. I would suggest you talk to the speech therapist and have the therapist to explain to you how to interpret his speech into your reading. I know this can be done and can help a great deal. My sons teacher also helps him try to make sounds and communicate more clearly while doing all of his lessons with him. Good luck!! I know how hard it is and how difficult it can be trying to communicate with a child that is hard to understand verbally. Hang in there and know that everything you do will impact this child's life forever. They need very understanding people with lots of patience.

That's a good question. I should really look into that and ask my professors in the teaching field. I'm sure many students have the same issue but won't speak up about it.

Anyway, as of right now, I don't know of any exercises that would help. I would suggest that you ask your teacher/professor if you may bring in a digital or tape recorder and tell them about your situation. If your teacher is a professional person, they would not see it as any embarassment but a better aid in your learning process. That way, if you can't catch lecture fast enough, you can replay it at home while reviewing your notes. I hope your teacher is flexible.
