Reading Comprehension For 8th Grade
Lynn Said:
Do you think this sounds like WAY to much HOMEWORK ??!!?We Answered:
One of the things about middle school and high school which prepares you for college is the fact that each teach independently assigns homework. They do not have to consult each other as far as what they assign. This is just one of those things that you will have to get used to. I am sure there are also times when you don't have any homework.Rose Said:
Am I Falling Behind Academically? We Answered:
I had the exact same thing and I just graduated from eighth grade. What a coincedence huh? But no, you aren't falling behind academically. I finished this year with a 4.0 and 3.83 semester GPA's. I found that when I was "reading" my mind was somewhere else, thinking about something irrelevant. Eating a light and healthy snack, like Triscuit crackers, baby carrots, or bananas keeps you from getting hungry. Also, eat something high in protein/carbohydrates because they keep your mind focused for a long time. Re-reading again is not bad if it's not more than two times, it will actually give you a better understanding of what you're reading anyways. If you keep reading often, your brain will start comprehending the material quicker and more accurately. So read anything and everything; magazines, comics, newspapers, cereal boxes, whatever you like. It will still be reading, and it'll help you improve your reading habits. Reading more is the key! Seriously, I hated reading before because I was really slow and had to re-read everything. Good luck!Manuel Said:
Is this a good ISEE score? We Answered:
They are good. You want to use the percentile, that is what you scored in comparison to other test-takers. So the 91% means you were in the top 9%. The 79% means you are in the top 21%, and the 97% means you're in the top 3%.They should be fine for even the most rigorous private schools if you have a good gpa. Very few schools fit into that category, the schools that have 40+% National Merit recognized students, many Finalists. So you should be fine with any school. It is very common for students to have one lower score on their ISEE, so the 79% shouldn't be a problem.
Good luck!
