Reading Comprehension Games

Alma Said:

What order should i read the Powerscore bibles in?

We Answered:

Wow, that other answer isn't too helpful! Anyway, I teach LSAT courses for PowerScore, so I think I can help you out here :)

There is certain content in the Logical Reasoning Bible that helps attack both the LG and RC sections, plus LR is 50% of the test, so generally we recommend that you start with the LRB. The exception to this is if you already know Logic Games is a serious weakness, in which case it is good to at least start reading the LGB so you can begin getting comfortable with how to properly attack the LG section.

Assuming you start with the LRB, move next to the LGB because most people find Logic Games somewhat difficult, and that is also an easy area to improve quickly.

Finally, finish up with the RCB. You always want to read the RCB after the LRB because the LRB explains short argumentation, and understanding that type of argumentation is helpful when you move to the longer passages present in the RC section.

Also, if you visit the book website (web address is in your books), there is a discussion of how to study with all three books, and some suggestions for using them concurrently in case you want to attack all three sectiojns simultaneously (which can be nice as that keeps your study routine varied).

I hope that helps!

Retaking the LSAT.. i scored a 162 when i took it in June... Reading Comprehension was my weakness...?

We Answered:

I wouldn't look at anything other than licensed LSAT materials.

I took the Princeton Review but it is expensive. If you can get your hands on old Princeton Review materials that would be more well rounded than looking at Kaplan alone. Study from past LSAT tests. They are testing a way of thinking, logic games alone do not test this.

Carole Said:

Is it possible to dramatically increase your LSAT score? Logic Games section is most challenging.Any tips?

We Answered:

When I started prepping for the LSAT, games was also my handicap, so I know you can definitely improve a lot.

If you need help on logic games, get the following two books:

1. PowerScore's Logic Games Bible
2. Kaplan's LSAT Logic Games Workbook

Also, make sure to do tons of real LSAT tests (from LSAC) or take a prep course. I took a course and jumped my score up significantly. Mostly, you need to learn the right strategies adn then spend tons of time practicing with them.
