Reading Comprehension School

Georgia Said:

Is reading comprehension still a required subject in school?

We Answered:

Don't worry about the comprehension test. It's not too hard. I'm sure that when you go back to school and take it, you will pass with flying colors!

Hope this helps,
Mr.X

Just kidding! Lol. I know exactly what you mean! I read answers all the time, and it's obvious that the people answering either didn't read the question, or can't seem to grasp the relevant points in the questions. When I was in Grade 10, I did have to take a test. I'm assuming that it is still in place.

Allen Said:

What would you recommend to the school administration to improve the reading comprehension of students?

We Answered:

If you want students to comprehend then invest time. Make reading block longer and put importance on it. Teach kids to be active readers.

There are five things GOOD Readers do: Question, Visualize, Predict, Connect, and Respond. Good readers do this automatically, it work! Struggling readers don't. Everyday Students need to be taught these simple steps to reading using short passages that enable them to practice and develop comprehension. For students who already do it, make them cognizant. For those that don't, teach them to be active readers.
