Reading Comprehension Struggling Readers
Donna Said:
while reading, how can i remember and comprehend the passage faster? We Answered:
See its very easy to understand any passage if and only if you hav a good vocabulary!! if you are able to understand the difficult words in your passage, then it will be very easy to get the central idea of the passage!! Once u get the central idea right u can easily remember the passage!!Try to work on your vocab, by reading a number of books like novels or anything u like!!while reading the books you will come across many new words, find their meanings,n how to use them in a sentence!! Maintain a record of such words in a notebook which u can refer later!! Have a habit of doin this daily,n always allot time to read your notebook daily!! Scientists say that a word sinks in your brain only wen u read and understand it ten times!!
Reading books will also improve your reading speed !!Have patience, your reading speed will surely increase, and you ll be able to process the information at a faster rate!! This change will occur gradually hence have patience and keep faith in yourself!!

Readign comprehension!?We Answered:
Maybe you can get a reading partner, a friend or a family member to help. I used to read the same book my son was reading and ask him questions about what he just read , we went over it paragraph by paragraph. When he would answer and I saw that he didn't get all the paragraph was telling him I'd ask very specific questions to get it out of him without telling him myself. Now my son is in highschool and has no problems comprehending most of the stuff they give him, he even understands shakesphere. Also in the past he would forget what he read in the beginning of each chapter by the time he finished it but doing what I said above helped alot. good luck , hope this helps.Carolyn Said:
How to enhance my reading comprehension? We Answered:
Select good American literature in fiction, biographies, current events, history, cultures, and read 20-50 pages each day depending on your ability (1 to 2 hours). Then in your mind discuss and argue with yourself what the material means, what it could mean (the contrary ideas), and what the writer was trying to communicate. If you can find a friend who reads or has read the same material, discuss/argue with them. Try to take opposing ideas even with yourself to firmly fix your conclusive ideas in your mind. Every week or month think back to what you last thought about each book you read, and see if you still agree with your last conclusions-as you progress you will find that newer read materials will influence what you think about books you read in the past. Only time will build your critical thinking processes, and if you are going to live to be 80-90 years old, you have a lot of time left in your life to develop your mental abilities.
