Reading Comprehension Test Online

Violet Said:

Where can I get an REAL IQ test?

We Answered:

psychologists give them I've heard of it costing $350, not all universities administer them but if you have a university in your area consider going through them as it will be cheaper. It can run into the thousands. Why not take the Mensa test instead? It's less money and if you pass you're smarter then 98% percent of the population, so your IQ would be around 130 or 132 or above.

Rick Said:

I want to read faster! :(?

We Answered:

Only reading more will make you read faster. There is no guide out there that will help your brain process what you read faster.

Sure you could just read the words faster, but to understand what you read while you do it, takes practice.

Robert Said:

I scored well on the GED when I was 16, but fail internet IQ tests. Am I intelligent?

We Answered:

Those online IQ tests are a joke, and doing poor or well in education is not an indicator of intelligence. Any idiot can get straight A's through High School and even college, it's more of a social engineering test.

A bushman in Africa could have an IQ of 200 but we won't know because he can't read or write.

Christina Said:

IQ Test... Should I be concerned?

We Answered:

I wouldn't worry about it for four reasons,

1. Performance on an IQ test doesn't have anything to do with happiness and has very little to do with one's ability to make a meaningful contribution to the world. This is because happiness has everything to do with one's outlook on life (also some genetic component) and the ability to contribute something depends far more on one's ability to work hard and get along well with others than one's innate intelligence.

2. Related to the above, IQ tests were and are designed to measure someone's ability to do well in academics (i.e. "book learnin'"). Certainly academic intelligence is part of what we think about when we say that someone is "smart" but there are other components to being smart as well.

3. 122 is actually above average. 100 is defined as the average but usually the tests will say that 90-110 is average or 80-120 is average depending on how inaccurately the test measures IQ.

4. Many of the online tests are not professionally normed - that is, they weren't tested against 1000 people to weed out questions that don't work well and to generate a proper performance curve to assign scores. If you have a tendency to stress out about IQ scores (and some of us do), be sure to take a professionally developed and tested one so that you're at least stressing out about the results of a reliable test!
