4- It's a real coming of age story. Like how when you're young your parents word is the gospel and they're never, ever wrong. Example: How your parents imprint values on you by upholding the same code. But as you get older you'll realize they don't know everything in the world and everybody makes mistakes sometimes.
It's like how you always remember your school as bigger when you go back for a reunion twenty years later. The boy was used to his father being a definite anchor of strength that he's not sure how to act when he realizes he's beaten him.
