Short Paragraphs For Reading Comprehension

Jon Said:

Difficulty comprehending two- dimensional objects/printed writing?

We Answered:

This sounds a LOT like a type of Dyslexia.
I know 3 people who are and they all have their similar traits and differences. You should check it out.

My wife is a great reader and she has it.

Difficulty comprehending two-dimensional objects/printed writing.?

We Answered:

Hey,
To start I have a Masters in Special education, have been teaching it for 5 years, and have a learning disability. So that being said, I might be able to help.

It sounds like you are very capable of reading short sentences but struggle as the writing gets longer. What I recommend is covering up what you are not reading with a large blank piece of paper, PLUS after each few sentences that you read, you write a little two or three word summary of what you just read. Then when you forget what you are reading instead of rereading, simply look back at the page that you are using (make sure to keep it organized). If you practice this long enough you will be able to lengthen the amount that you read between each summary.

If this doesn’t help or if you need more assistance talk to your teacher and see if you can be tested for a specific Learning Disability. There are certain institutions like “reading for the blind and dyslexic” that provide books and textbooks on tape (most of the time your school will pay for this service).

Let me know if this helps or if you need more help.
Good Luck.

I need paragraphs of about 100-150 words.

Project Gutenberg (www.gutenberg.org) has over 25,000 books you can download for free. Look at the catalog from their home page.
There are classic fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and audio books (though this won't help you).
I would think you could download some familiar books and choose paragraphs from them.

Short Term Memory Loss?

We Answered:

It's not short term memory loss. Short term memory loss is when you look at some thing and you see a pencil on the floor and you get distracted and is like hey look a pencil. It can be a disorder but it's not like your mental. You should go to a doctor and talk about it. OR maybe you have extreme bad memory.
