Third Grade Comprehension

Edwin Said:

How does one test the "reading level" of a third grader?

We Answered:

they make u read, and i think they test how well u prounce and know the words. but it is inaccuarate i think.
and if u have reading skill of an 8th grader when ur in 3rd grade, u should have skipped grades xD.
and btw good job on that

Minnie Said:

R&S Regulars.....you know those people that like to comment about your grammar skills?

We Answered:

I completely agree with you only I see poor grammar and spelling as intellectual laziness. And I always wonder how I'm supposed to take someone seriously on an important subject when they exhibit that intellectual laziness.

Jeffrey Said:

I have to write a paper about an article about a study that has to do with child psychology...?

We Answered:

As a rule that´s right. But there can be many factors change the way of the child. Maybe it change the school, the environment, leave parents and go into a boarding school. Or anything else.

Brittany Said:

What would 4 scenarios be for making adaptations on this test for children who have special needs?

We Answered:

1. extra time
2. fewer questions
3. scribe
4. placement with fewer distractions

Paul Said:

1984, Farenheit 451, and Animal Farm?

We Answered:

I read Animal Farm and 1984 the summer after 8th.

Reading level on classics isn't an exact science because teen-lit didn't come around until about 20 years ago (ie most high school reading lists are classified as adult literature). Orwell's two books correspond well to history and literature lessons often for high school upper classmen (although this varies with schools). However, even without the curriculum background I was still able to get what was going on.

All 3 are dystopia literature. 1984 and Animal Farm are depressing and Fahrenheit isn't much better on that point. All are well written and interesting reads.

Happy Reading
