Go for it! I'm good at drawing but COLOR BLIND and I'm a professional graphic artist! (who's a perfectionist, no less!) How do I do it? on computer, colors turn to #'s, and thank god for the Pantone system!!
There are plenty of people I knew in college who were really good on the computer but horrible with a brush or pencil or drawing pen. More important is overall design sense, etc.
the most important thing to remember is this; it's easier to turn an artist into a computer geek than it is to turn a computer geek into an artist!
so; go for it! Work on developing your art skills that aren't directly related to drawing/painting/etc- color theory, elements of design, etc. tho I'm not sure what would be applicable in the case of animation, but you see what I mean, hopefully! Maybe in your case it would involve studying how people move, if you anticipate doing a lot of work on character animation, for example

It will almost certainly have that either as part of the degree or as an option. And computer engineering will get you a job in the game industry. But to be 100% sure check with the schools you are thinking of applying to.
