Is getting a Computer Networking degree a good idea?

We Answered:

It is up to you. Networking isnt exactly a computer degree rather than a networking degree. you will learn how to set up servers and local networks. If you want a great rewarding degree with a much better pay go for either computer science or computer engineering. computer science is software oriented and computer engineering is more towards hardware oriented. I love computers as a hobby myself. I set up networks and write C+, phython and C but i taught myself that. I am majoring in Global supply chain management. You have to understand something and that is what was always told to be by counselors and career offices. computer degrees have a very unstable job market. Always changing. My friend who is a computer engineer just got layed off after 4 months of work. its not a stable field to build a career unless you own your own place. but as a career it is hard to find a long lasting job in that field unless you work with one of the big fortune companies. You can also check out I.T information technology if your into technology.

Neil Said:

if im taking an associates degree in computer networking, do i still need to take other courses?

We Answered:

It really depends on the courses your taking. Ask the teacher if the course is geared toward the CCNA certifications. You can also get a good overview of what you need to know from the Cisco website http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/le…
