Criminal Justice Degree Jobs

Criminal justice degree jobs that dont reqired you to shave your facial hair?We Answered:
Associated with a criminal justice degree? nothing I can think of. Of course I think it is a worthless degree for future cops. Probation/parole will accept an application but lots will be applying with degrees in soc and psych which is a better fit. In my state corrections allows a beard but county corrections does not.If you want a job in the system as a cop you look for a department that allow facial hair, there are a number around the country.
I have good old pseudofolliculitis barbae (bumps) myself.
My department I just had to get through academy (6 months) shaving and I could then apply for a medical release to have a short beard.
Does have an affect on the job since you cannot be in certain units because you cannot wear a gas mask. I started shaving again and got used to mild cortisone cream.

what type of criminal justice jobs can i get with an associates degree? We Answered:
Depending on your state, you might be able to get a position in a Juvenile Detention Center or possibly in a Training School. Positions are hard to come by with the economy the way it is (alot of very qualified people are looking for positions and there are just not enough jobs out there) The position will be entry level and you will not get paid very much, but at least you will have an opportunity to earn some money and possibly study at the same time for your 4 year degree. You will need a 4 year degree. I spent alot of time looking around and every state I looked into requires a 4 year degree for a JPO position. The positions can be highly competetive.
Since you are going the Criminal Justice route, take as many Human Services / Social Work / Counseling / and Substance Abuse elective hours that you can, it will be helpful for preparing you to work in the field.
To boost your expereince level, you can try volunteering at a Facility. You could pursue an interenship at a local Juvenile Probation Office. You could spend a year as an Americorp Volunteer working with at risk youth.

While it is true that an existing job would keep you with a medical exemption, a department that has a policy against beards may hesitate to hire you in the first place. You may want to check for an agency that allows facial hair in the first place. Then, it would not be an issue at all.Good luck.
