The only thing you have to worry about is, is the on line college accredited by a legitimate accrediting agency.
A number of on line schools have set up there own to fool people but if your state does not recognize it then you are out of luck.

The normal accreditation agency for Penn is the Middle States Commission on Higher Education HQed in Philly.
According to their web site ITT tech is not accredited by them.
ITT was originally a Midwest school and the normal agency is the North Central Association ITT is not accredited by them either.

I would suggest Phoenix or Kaplan. I know both are accredited and have fine web based CJ classes and offer a good CJ degree.

Now another comment. A CJ degree is not a step up for most department hiring. Having an AA or 60-64 semester hours is, and sometimes required. The hours can be in any academic subject.
If something interests you go for it, all knowledge is important to police work and you get plenty of CJ classes in the academy. The academy classes are taught by working cops, not some guy who just happened to get a masters degree and never worked the street.
You can get your hours locally at any community college. Hope one is near enough. They are a lot cheaper than ITT, Phoenix, Kaplan or any of the proprietary schools.

Some are good, and some aren't. A good starting place is to find a "real" school (one with a live campus) that also has an online program and use that.
