You need to speak to your adviser and look at the specific requirements for your school. Every school is different and asking strangers who don't know what school you're going to won't help you. Make an appointment to speak to your adviser before registering for classes. Most schools have the requirements for all majors listed somewhere on their website, so you can take a look at that as well.
Also, you will probably need an elementary education degree and not an early childhood education degree. Kindergarten and first grade are considered elementary school. Early childhood is more for pre-school and younger children.

You can be a teacher at a private daycare/preschool. Most pre-k classrooms that are in elementary schools require you to have a 4 year degree in early childhood. You can go back to school and get a 4 year degree!! Good luck!!

Trust me ... you don't teach for the money :0) Make sure you know what grade level you want to teach because I wanted to teach kindergarten but when I became a substitute I hated elementary. i love middle school and high school.

My best advice to you is as soon as you have the hours or time become a substitute to make sure that you find your perfect grade and/or subject.
