Can you please clarify what the activity is and any other information you might have been given to go with it!! It will be very difficult for anyone to help you!

Has anyone done the Early Years Foundation Degree?

We Answered:

i did the early years HND which is one year off the degree. it depends what you want to do.
i wanted to work with under 8s and had done my a levels so was advised to go for the HND and it worked out great for me, when they introduced nvq's my qualification was eqv to nvq 4/5 which meant i could go straigh in as management. its not so good if you havent had any exp with little ones as it doesnt teach the basics of child care but more the theories and theorists behind education, how children learn best, different teching methods, how different methods in different situations work, such as to teach in a nursery would require different methods than teaching a child who is very ill in hospital and who is going to be in there for months.
its very theory based and can get quite 'deep' but i loved it. i spent a month in sweden working with their nursery nurses and learning how they do things and then had to do a presentaion on the differences to our culture.
the degree, i was told was much the same, but in the 3rd year you had to do a dissitation which i have been told by others quite indepth. The degree helps if you want to go into teaching, you can do the degree and then the 12 month training course, sorry foget the name.
but overall i found it very interesting, worthwhile and benifical. much better than just working your way up without really understanding why we do things and why they work.
good luck

You will be asked about:
* Experience you have with children.
* Why you have chose to do the course.
* What you hope to achieve from doing the course.

They are the main ones, you may be given a scenario, something like ' You are at a placement when a member of staff asks you to clean all the tables and stack the chairs, however, you have already cleaned the cupboards, made drinks and tidied the kitchen. What would you do in this situation?'

They are looking for honest answers, if you want to do the course, just tell them that and your reasons why.
When I had my BEd interview, I blabbled on for ages about why I want to become a teacher; I am sure the tutors got bored!

Try not to ramble too much, but always remember to make yourself sound better than others who will be interviewed on the same day.

Do you mean early childhood education? If so, good paying jobs are few & far between. Pre-school jobs pay nothing, and K-3 jobs are tough to find/get. Better to get an elementary education degree.
