My sister works with the with the Air Quality Management District (of Bay Area, where we are located) as an inspector. She is assigned a district and runs tests on... well yes, the air quality. It's like pollution police, regulating emissions, writing tickets and simply keeping the world a better place.

This is what I do. Find all the major corporations in those areas and see if they have a website and click on careers/employment. Big corporations are the only ones I've seen posted that have employment for that type of degree. You could also try Hospitals and nursing homes. Good luck.

The engineering degree will open up a lot more, better paying jobs than the EHS degree. but it will also be more difficult.

Your best bet would be to apply for financial aide, and in the meantime just look on sites like Fastweb to find scholarship opportunities. If money is that big a problem I'm sure there are ways you can make up for it with loans or grants.
