Maybe not IT, but you use IT a lot in library work. Lots of library schools even have subspecialities in various infomatic areas. You will also have a broader range of knowledge. I know I see lots of library jobs listed for BC. (I'm in the US and they advertise here.)

LIS gives you more options and doesn't rule out health. In this country, infomatics, is (at least at my school) considered a subset of LIS.

Many LIS programs are online. You can go part time while you work. That's what I did (only not online).

If you own a degree - or any extra qualification - then you'll already be in advace of of the bunch when it comes to looking for jobs. once you have your degree it should be easy to find work in a foster home. check a couple of homes and talk to other employees if you can. You want to find a place that has the same ideals as you because you are going to have to deal with them for the next however long you work there. You also want to find a place that will support you in your career and where you feel safe. Foster homes always need people because there is such a high burn out rate. So shop around before you commit to a job.
