Healthcare Administration Degree
Leah Said:
What kind of jobs are available with a degree in Healthcare Administration? We Answered:
A healthcare administration degree is aimed to equip you with competencies like strategic planning, resource management, leadership skills and more. These skills make the graduates efficient to work as managers and administrators in different healthcare facilities. Since healthcare administrators possess both clinical and business skills they ensure smooth functioning in a healthcare environment.P.S. Earning a bachelor’s or an associate’s degree will certainly affect the job positions that you qualify for. So make an informed decision.

What kind of job could I get with a Healthcare Administration Degree? We Answered:
This would depend on what degree you are discussing. Some schools offer an Associate degrees in Healthcare Admin, then there are Bachelor degrees and Masters degree programs, and there are also the dual Healthcare Admin/MBA programs.
Medical clinics and groups usually will have an administrator with a Bachelors degree, but there are some single provider practices which might use someone with an Associate degree due to cost limitations. Some Nursing homes use Bachelors degree Healthcare Admin graduates in the administrative positions, often for the logistic side while the Nurse Executive manges the clinical aspects.
Hospitals generally are looking for Administrators with Masters degrees or higher, but will use Bachelors degree Administrators in lower level departments at times.
The concentration of Health Care Administration prepares students to enter, or advance, into the management area in a variety of positions and organizations related to the health care field. These positions could involve being a provider relation’s coordinator, a marketing/public relations director, a medical group practice manager, a public health worker, an insurance group analyst, an administrator in a not-for-profit organization like the Red Cross, a department head in a hospital, or many other professional entry or midlevel positions. Some students use the degree as a springboard for graduate school in one of many health care specialties, including health care administration, business administration, public administration, political science or law.
Overall, I have seen few Associate degree graduates obtain a significant position, due to the limited amount of information which can be learned in a 2 year program.
Usually if a student has a degree below a Masters degree, they will work on it while working in a lower level administrative or support capacity. In health care where the administrators are trying to work with Physicians and Nursing executives with Masters and Doctorate degrees, the higher degree is needed for credibility.
