You should contact Excelsior College in Albany, NY, a highly respected college within the University of the State of New York system about earning alternative credit for their degrees. They will accept a wide variety of accredited coursework including correspondence courses and their own Excelsior College Exams, both of which can be accomplished at relatively low cost. Look at the correspondence courses offered by Ohio University and the Univ. of Wisconsin at Madison for excellent correspondence courses and credit by exam. (I have an associate's degree from Excelsior and I highly recommend them; www.excelsior.edu.) Generally, because of the low cost of these courses and exams and their flexible completion schedules, they are not subject to student loan financing except perhaps by private sources.
